A day trip to Bhaluka, Mymensingh

I have limited travel experience within Bangladesh. So whenever I get the chance to visit any location outside the capital city I rarely let go of that opportunity. One such opportunity arose when an acquaintance of mine asked me to join him on a trip to Bhaluka which is a geographic region of Mymensingh district. Bhaluka is not too far from the capital city, Dhaka, and getting there can take about three hours. While the drive felt long and sitting in the cramped confines of a car was difficult, the trip proved to be a wonderful experience.

We stopped by to meet some people at some location in Bhaluka and I snapped some pictures while we were there. The pictures below are of a rural home in a very pleasant setting. The rustic atmosphere was simply amazing.

The whole area was simply serene. It was very quiet and the gentle breeze along with the sound of small birds created a very pleasant environment.

The place looked like it could use some rain. The soil was dry and the air was warm. I would not expect much vegetation in such climate but was surprised to see a whole variety of different plants and trees in the area. There seemed to be fruit trees everywhere.

There were also some very interesting flowering plants that matched the parched climate. And all were beautiful.

Among the more interesting things, I came across this tree whose bark reminded me of some prehistoric creature. It was very dinosaur-like and truly fascinating.

While I was in Bhaluka for just a day trip, it was well worth the trouble of driving there. The quiet setting was a welcome break from city life and greatly helped me reconnect with nature and experience the simple life that we all forget to appreciate sometimes.
